Rock Art is a global phenomenon
that has now been "discovered" on all continents save
Antarctica,
and is represented by literally hundreds of
thousands sites
and many millions of motifs. It now appears that
virtually all ancient peoples left marks
in caves and on the
rock walls of canyons and natural features of the landscape.
This body of art is remarkable in every way, because it speaks
metaphorically of the
deepest searching and dreaming of the
human spirit.
R. Paul Firnhaber has specialized in photographing
and studying rock art globally for over 20 years.
