Icons
are the primary form of ritual art in the Orthodox tradition in
Russia.
Outside of that tradition, icons are collected for their
artistic and aesthetic qualities
in addition to their spiritual values.
Brass-cast Old Believer's icons are rare outside Russia,
but occasionally become available.
This grouping was painstakingly collected both inside Russia and
in the Baltic countries of Estonia and Latvia.
