Coptic Textile Fragment/Medallion
This beautiful tapestry-woven
medallion is from the 5th-6th
century AD Coptic
period of Egypt. It is extremely rare for textiles
to survive the centuries.
A dry desert Egyptian tomb has preserved this piece which depicts
a bull,
two humans and an angel in a delightful composition.
Coptic textile fragments provide a valued glimpse into the daily life of
the Egyptians.
This piece is in excellent condition.
